Ethiopia Regional Gender and Youth specialist Banyanglobal

I am Gender and Youth Inclusion Specialist for Banyan Global in Amhara region-Ethiopia, where I provide technical leadership and social inclusiveness training for the USAID-funded Feed the Future Ethiopia Value Chain Activity project. I have 15 years of experience in gender and different development project programming which includes advanced expertise in conducting gender analyses, gender mainstreaming, gender-responsive activity design, and facilitating gender trainings. I also developed expertise in youth programming area through my work and exposure of coordinating a schoolgirls’ empowerment project with Fre-addis Ethiopia and the Ministry of Education and serving as a Local Economy Development Expert with the Regional Finance and Economy Development Bureau. Previously, I also worked at CARE Ethiopia on a rural WASH program where I was the project team leader. Through this role, I helped empower women by promoting their leadership roles through water schemes management system and integrated school WASH service provisions.

I have served as a Supervisory Trainer on an urban gardening program for USAID-funded DAI program in Amhara where I conducted gender analyses and supported women’s economic empowerment activities and vulnerable children nutrition improvement packages. I hold a Master of Science degree in project planning and management studies from Debre-markos University and Bachelor’s degree in economics from Bahirdar University in Ethiopia.
