The Effects of the Ukraine/Russia Crisis on Food Processors and Building Resilience to Crises

Event Information
The Russian war in Ukraine is hitting the global food supply chain and impacting prices of raw material (largely wheat), fertilizer, and fuel, which limit production, increase costs and depress sales. This has shaped manufacturers’ supply chain strategies and has greatly affected Africa’s food processing industry, despite being far from the conflict zone.
AINFP is supporting processors to seek solutions to ensure their business survival and reduce the effects of the crisis on the food industry in the Sub-Saharan African countries we work in. As part of supporting food processors to secure lasting solutions for sustainability during and beyond this crisis, knowledge sharing through interactive sessions is crucial.
Alliance for Inclusive and Nutritious Food Processing-AINFP) is a partnership between USAID, TechnoServe, and Partners in Food Solutions (PFS) that aims to create a more competitive food-processing sector. The AINFP program leverages the power of the private sector to create better nutritional outcomes for base-of-the-pyramid consumers and more profitable market opportunities for local farmers. This is achieved by supporting local food processing companies in Kenya, Tanzania, Zambia, Ethiopia, and Malawi through remote technical assistance and training from world-leading food processing companies under PFS to increase the availability of safe, affordable, and nutritious food.
The session under the AINFP Webinar series will bring together food processors, partners, and food industry experts from the region to engage and share experiences and opportunities in building resilience as a continent against world crises.
