A forward thinking, hardworking, capable and committed communication specialist. With an ability to utilize existing test knowledge, experiences and come up with practical solutions, way forward in order to resolve the problem. Having first class leadership, negotiating and communicating skills and capable of providing authoritative guidance, advice and innovation internally and externally. I am a Communications Specialist currently living in Kenya. My interests range from travelling, writing, reading, entrepreneurship, motivator/mentorship and philanthropy and photography. I have traveled and worked in different fragile areas in Kenya and South Sudan gathering content that is articles and photography during my work in Communications. I have accompanied donors, international staff, celebrities, local and international journalists for field visits in Kenya and South Sudan to gather content related to a specific project or programs and interact with the community. I was a journalist for 10 years in three different media houses in Kenya. I have effective media engagement with a team of local and international journalists. A CNN Journalist of the Year Award Finalist Nominee 2010, in the HIV and AIDS Category, received recognition and Certified for my exemplary story of People Living with HIV facing stigma specifically women in the community. A Mentor journalist for the British Council BBC School news project facilitated by the British Council in Kenya. I have worked with World Vision in Kenya and South Sudan, including Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) and currently at Heifer International Africa Program based in Kenya. I shared content, influence storytelling and while working in a fragile context area in Kenya and South Sudan. With a clear grasp of communication and advocacy strategies, after a Consortium of Non-Governmental Organizations Scaling Up Nutrition gave me the opportunity to be trained and certified on understanding the value of using advocacy through communication to enhance nutrition agenda. I did and used the training to the best of my ability. I was a communication officer in charge of the Child Health Now campaign at World Vision Kenya that transitioned in 2014. Advocacy was used to mobilise the public and call on world leaders to take action to reduce the number of children dying before their fifth birthday from wholly preventable causes. I have been trained and certified as a Risk-All Star with a capability in Management of Reputation. I further completed Hostile Environment Awareness Training (HEAT) training from World Vision Corporate Security including Security in National Theaters Training (SAINT). With that, I have the capability to be deployed in any fragile context areas across the world and gather content for emergency-related websites, in compliance with guidelines and standards used throughout an organization. My personality is I am a risk taker, seeker, enthusiastic, easy going, collaborator, patient and a peacemaker. I interact internally and externally on a professional and personal basis as I foster networks to achieve the well-being to address complex issues in communication.
