Heriel Massawe

Tanzania Research Officer Tanzania Livestock Research Institute

Dr. Heriel Massawe is a livestock researcher in Tanzania Livestock Research Institute (TALIRI). He worked with TALIRI since 2007 and has gained experiences in designing and conducting research projects in various livestock development issues. Dr. Massawe has a PhD in Dairy from Sokoine University of Agriculture, Morogoro, Tanzania. His PhD focus on the microbial quality and safety of milk in smallholder dairy production system. Also he holds MSc in Tropical Animal Production and BSc in Animal Science, both from the same University. Dr. Massawe has attended other courses, including Diploma in Animal health from Tengeru livestock training institute, Arusha, Tanzania, Feed formulations, Data management and analysis and Research for life. He has been involved in various government programs and research projects including; Agricultural Sector Development Program ASDP1, ZARDEF, DADPS and Promoting good practices on the use of antimicrobials in livestock value chain in Pastoral and Agro-Pastoral Production Systems. He has extensive knowledge and experience in data analysis using SAS, @Risk, Epi Info and SPSS software. Dr. Massawe has 9 publications in journal articles and conference proceedings. Currently Dr. Massawe is Acting, Zonal Director at TALIRI Lake Zone.
