Ghana Agricultural Economist (M&E Specialist) International Institute of Tropical Agriculture

I have, in the past 17 years, contributed to agricultural and rural transformation as an Agricultural Economist, and a Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning and Impact Assessment (MELIA) Specialist. I apply my in-depth understanding of development programing (Theories of Change & Logical/Results Framework) to lead and contribute to the design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of initiatives that restore (post-disaster or post-conflict) & improved livelihoods, resilience and welfare (food security, poverty & equality) in sub-Saharan Africa (Appendix 1). 


In have worked in the capacity of Principal Investigator and Resource Person (socioeconomic research), Project Team Leader and Coordinator (rural development initiatives), Focal Point (Agricultural Development Task Force), Evaluation Specialist and Business & Value Chain Specialist (Consultancies), and managed Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) processes for institutions and initiatives that are implemented by consortiums of international organizations. I have worked with national and international Research and Development (R&D) organizations, and familiar with development strategies of major donors (Appendix 1). My expertise in household (gender, youth & vulnerability) and food systems (agribusiness & value chain) modelling, technology dissemination/scaling (also digitalization), and Collaborating, Learning and Adapting (CLA) processes have been useful for targeting, assessment and scaling of development interventions. Through my global network of interdisciplinary & multicultural professionals (Appendix 2) and partners to be update on current trends in international development and research, understand specific contextual issues, learn, and adapt strategies for the success of initiatives. 


I ensure quality and timeliness of deliverables by using digital tools Computer Assisted Personal Interviewing (CAPI) tools (Survey Solutions, CSPRO and Kobo Toolbox) for data collection, STATA, R, E-views and SPSS for quantitative (statistical & micro-econometrics) and qualitative data analyses, MEL, FTFMS/DIS and DevResults to manage and archive project data, Mendeley, RefWorks and Review Manager to manage literature, and Microsoft Office Suite to process compelling reports, peer reviewed publications (Annex 3), policy briefs, discussion papers, competitive technical & financial proposals and award winning presentations. I facilitate multi-stakeholder processes (workshops, seminars & conferences) to share results and validate lessons, establish and facilitate strategic partnerships, build teams, and develop capacities (train, supervise & mentor) of students (Doctoral & Maters) and professionals in socioeconomic research methodology, database management and analyses, scientific reporting and presentation. 


My leadership abilities, as reflected in my motivation for success, effective communication, conflict resolution and delegation skills, and appreciation of ethical principles, have inspired team work. I use English (advance), Portuguese (intermediate), French (basic) and German (basic), and Akan-Twi and Ga (native) languages of Ghana. Outside work, I socialize with family and friends, exercise, cook, listen to music, watch movies, travel and engage in social discourses.
