OVERVIEW

This in-person course is designed to equip USAID staff with basic facilitation skills and foundational knowledge of Women's Empowerment in Agriculture Index (WEAI) and Gender Integration Framework (GIF) technical content in order to effectively deliver the half-day modules for the WEAI 101 and GIF 101 courses with Mission and project colleagues, as well as facilitate effective conversations.

Objectives

  1. Demonstrate functional mastery of the content for the WEAI half-day module and facilitation of the GIF
  2. Practice facilitation and co-facilitation skills to ensure seamless delivery of technical content
  3. Prepare for, deliver, offer and receive peer critique of key activities within the WEAI and GIF modules
  4. Develop a plan for delivering the WEAI and GIF modules upon return to the mission
  5. Gain a greater range of facilitation responses in managing challenging training situations

Gender Integration Framework (GIF) 101

  1. Describe what data can feed into the Gender Integration Framework (GIF)
  2. Practice using the GIF
  3. Reflect on how to use the GIF in your own strategic planning

  1. Articulate what the WEAI measures, including the 5 Domains of Empowerment
  2. Describe the methodology used in the WEAI and how it measures empowerment
  3. Demonstrate a foundational ability to interpret and explain your country’s WEAI results
  4. Plan for one possible action to take using the WEAI as part of your role and responsibilities

Audience

The course resources are designed for USAID staff, gender points of contact, and monitoring and evaluation specialists responsible for Feed the Future activity implementation.
