Towards a Gender Just Future: Gender Equality Annual Report 2023 from CARE International
CARE International sees women and girls as the driving force able to create a fairer and better world for all
As we continue to face new global challenges, CARE has witnessed how the inclusion of diverse women and girls is necessary to reach those most in need, in all sectors.
Food insecurity is increasing; since March 2022, 52% of women and 29% of men reported an impact on food security. Women are more likely to eat less and not eat at all. About 150 million more women than men are hungry, and this only continues to increase.
Again and again, CARE sees disparities such as these, which only further showcases the need for a gender-just world.
As of July 2023, CARE has released its first-ever Gender Equality Annual Report
This report highlights the global challenges faced, the remarkable impact achieved to date and visions for the future of gender equality.
Along with standalone programs, which have a dedicated focus on gender equality, CARE addresses inequalities through the integration of gender into its programs in other sectors, such as food and nutrition security, climate justice, health, economic justice, humanitarian and emergency settings and more.
Since 2015, CARE has supported the empowerment of 16.5 million women and girls, fostering gender equality across diverse contexts
This achievement owes not only to CARE’s strategic focus on priority areas outlined in its Gender Equality Impact Area Strategy, but also to the integration of gender into all contexts.
Looking beyond 2023, CARE will continue to deepen its focus on centering gender equality in all sectors, settings and programs
CARE aims to amplify the impact of its programs and further anticipate how to best serve women and girls, in all their diversity.
