Soybean Innovation Lab announces release of a Soybean Disease Diagnostic Guide

Dr. Glen Hartman, a SIL researcher based at the University of Illinois, and Harun Murithi, a researcher at the International Institute for Tropical Agriculture based in Tanzania, have collaborated to develop a new diagnostic guide for the identification of soybean diseases and pests specifically designed for use in Africa.
The guide provides reference photos and detailed descriptions on over 20 soybean diseases smallholder farmers might encounter in their crop, as well as information about best management practices. The diagnostic guide will inform soybean breeders on which diseases they need to breed resistance to, help agronomic researchers design better disease prevention strategies, and provide farmers with another resource to increase their soybean yields.
