Request for Information on USAID's Enhancing Local Achievements in Nutrition Excellence

RFI-7200-22-00001: Enhancing Local Achievements in Nutrition Excellence
DEADLINE FOR RESPONSE: August 19, 2022 5:00 P.M. EST
USAID is pleased to share the Request for Information on USAID’s Enhancing Local Achievements in Nutrition Excellence.
Good nutrition is essential to the health and well-being of individuals, families, communities, and entire nations. Nutrition is core to the development objectives USAID works to achieve every day. Almost half of the deaths of children under five years of age are attributed to malnutrition, and those children who survive malnutrition have compromised cognitive and physical development. USAID has 60 years of global leadership in nutrition. Through strong partnerships, the Agency accelerates impact by bringing investments in health and food systems and humanitarian response together, in addition to helping partner governments drive effective multi-sectoral coordination.
USAID’s nutrition work is guided by the Multi-Sectoral Nutrition Strategy 2014–2025, which promotes a multisectoral approach to address both direct and underlying causes of malnutrition, and acknowledges the critical links between humanitarian assistance and development programming to help build resilience to shocks in vulnerable communities.
USAID is designing a new multi-sectoral nutrition activity and is seeking information from stakeholders to help refine the scope of the potential award. The potential new activity will ensure that the evidence base on how to improve multi-sectoral nutrition outcomes is brought to the local level where it can be implemented at scale. It may also expand the evidence base related to implementing and measuring nutrition-specific and nutrition-sensitive approaches. Four or five to-be-determined key topic areas of multi-sectoral relevance will be the project’s center point. USAID anticipates that the future activity will be funded for a period of five years with an estimated budget ranging from $50-150 million.
