Innovations For Enhancing Marketing and Safety of Animal-Source Foods

The Feed the Future Innovation Lab for Livestock systems develops innovative solutions to problems with livestock production and animal-source food consumption. Here are three one-page fact sheets about innovations that were developed for enhancing the marketing and safety of animal-source foods.
Each innovation is based on active or recently completed research projects we funded in the respective country. They are widely applicable for smallholder farmers and stakeholders across the developing world.
Three Innovation Summaries
- Best practices to enhance the microbiological quality and safety of milk and yoghurt: This innovation applies the results of testing for best practices for milk and yoghurt storage in traditional containers in Ethiopia.
- Social and behavior change communication strategy for improving ASF (Animal Source Food) consumption: This adapted practice applies behavior change messaging to increase the consumption of ASF in Rwanda.
- SMS virtual collection center smartphone app: This new technology uses a Short Message Service (SMS) to support goat marketing, in Nepal.
