Feed the Future Monitoring System (FTFMS) Resources Page 2019
This page houses key updates, information, and resources to assist those who are reporting into the Feed the Future Monitoring System (FTFMS). FTFMS is part of an interagency effort to consolidate USG reporting on Feed the Future activities. USAID, USDA, MCC, Peace Corps, Treasury, and the US-Africa Development Foundation contribute data to the system. FTFMS indicator data are the official data for Feed the Future, provide the foundation for the Feed the Future Progress Report, and inform decisions on future programming and budget allocations.
FY19 FTFMS Timeline for Data Entry & Review

- IP data entry: Oct 15 - Nov 15 [5 weeks]
- OU/Mission data review: Nov 18 - Dec 6 [3 weeks]

Updates for the FY19 Reporting Season
- We published a revised version of our March 2018 handbook in Sept 2019 (available here), and this is the version that should be used for all FY19 reporting.
- Key changes include (details in Appendix 3 of revised handbook, starting pg. 279):
- EG.3.1-d: Milestones in improved institutional architecture for food security policy achieved with USG support [Multi-level] was changed from capturing the number of milestones in the FTFMS, to requesting that users instead fill out a standard table with information on the milestones in IA achieved (standard template table is available on (https://www.agrilinks.org/post/institutionalarchitecture-assessment-food-security-policychange). Users then enter a '1' on the data entry screen to alert reviewers to look into ‘Other Reporting Docs’ to download the information.
- CBLD-9: Percent of USG-assisted organizations with improved performance [IM-level] replaces EG.3.2-29 and is changed to looking at a percent versus a numerical count.
- HL.9-15: Percent of participants of community -level nutrition interventions who practice promoted infant and young child feeding behaviors [IM-level] is being archived and removed from the system after consensus was reached with GH and FFP regarding its lack of overall utility in tracking activity progress for informed decision-making.
- Some edits to indicator titles
- Added clarifications in PIRS (i.e. indicator definitions)
- Key changes include (details in Appendix 3 of revised handbook, starting pg. 279):
- We published the FY19 FTFMS Guidance Document for this year’s instructions for entering performance indicator and narrative data into the FTFMS
- We are hosting the annual FTFMS Webinar, on Thursday, October 9. A recording and transcript will be posted at the same link.
- We updated the Template for the IM Performance Narrative – a Word document to help USAID IPs prepare this narrative before entering into FTFMS
- We updated the Template for the FTF Key Issue Narrative – a Word document to help USAID OUs prepare this narrative before entering into FTFMS
- We updated the Template for the BFS HQ Country Narrative – a Word document to help IPs of BFS-funded IMs prepare this narrative before entering into FTFMS
As always, direct your FTFMS questions to [email protected] (or for USAID OUs, to your A&L technical advisor listed below). Interagency colleagues should direct questions to Katie West ([email protected]).
What Should You Be Doing Now to Prepare?
- Make sure you and your Implementing Partners have an FTFMS account if you need one.
- To request an account, email [email protected] (link sends e-mail). Please specify which Implementing Mechanism the user needs access to.
- If you forgot your password or haven't logged in lately, you can reset it by clicking "Forgot Password" on the FTFMS login screen.
- Check that all the identifying information for your projects is showing up in FTFMS (click the pencil icon next to your project title on the "Enter Mechanism Info" screen).
- For USAID, some data you can correct yourself directly in FTFMS, while other IM Details are not editable. If data needs to be filled in or corrected on a non-editable cell, please, contact your USAID POC (if you're an Implementing Partner) or your Program Office (if you're a USAID Mission) to make the correction in the Operational Plan in the FACTSInfo system, and the updates will automatically transfer to FTFMS overnight.
- AORs/CORs: Check that all the appropriate indicators are selected for your project (go to the "Select Indicators & Commodities" menu item in FTFMS). Delete indicators you're no longer reporting on (click red "x" - it doesn't erase historical data), and/or click "Add Indicator" at the bottom to include new ones.
- Start gathering your results data and preparing your IM Performance Narratives (one per project -- see template available on this page!) so you're ready when the system opens!
