An Integrated Approach to Address Climate and Food Security Challenges in Rwanda

Event Information
This year's AGRF Summit will explore the pathways and actions needed to steer the continent towards food systems transformation. This year's AGRF Summit, under the theme "Pathways to recovery and resilient food systems," aims to elevate the single coordinated African voice to the UN Food Systems Summit (UNFSS) and identify immediate actions and steps that need to be taken to accelerate progress and recovery towards inclusive agricultural transformation.
The interactive AGRF session “An Integrated Approach to Address Climate and Food Security Challenges in Rwanda” will describe the Feed the Future Rwanda Hinga Weze Activity’s integrated approach to advance climate and nutrition sensitive agriculture by sustainably increasing incomes, productivity and market access for smallholder farmers. Panelists will describe how Hinga Weze, implemented by Cultivating New Frontiers in Agriculture (CNFA) and funded by USAID, has built resilience to climate change and increased the availability of nutritious foods—addressing key questions such as how climate change affects farmers in Rwanda and which climate-smart agriculture approaches and strategies best address climate shocks while improving food security.
