About Me
I am an organizational leaning Agricultural Economist who creates organizations at the smallholder farmer level to help them use ICTs to promote governance and transparency in the linkage of their agricultural value chain productive functions to the value chain actors within the continuum of pre-production to consumption.
I run value chain linked organizations that I have created to promote the use of ICT4Ag/ICT4D to support aggregation of smallholder produce. One of the businesses Octagon Data Systems Limited , develops software to run an own innovation in digital scales placed at the place of produce aggregation.
We organize the farmers through an empowerment and investment Social Enterprise, Value Addition and Cottage Industry Development in Africa(VACID ) which supports the value chain integration of what communities do. We identify the anchor commodity chain around which we help the create smallholder producer organizations which by coming together with other smallholder producer organizations create produce aggregation groups. These then lead to the formation of value chain marketing groups which we support to register as legal entities to link with governments, development organizations and social investment organizations so that they can create a physical space for collaboration as Aquaculture, Value Addition, Agribusiness and Knowledge (AVAAK) Centers.
We have finalized on the development of the engagement models and the appropriate technologies as is seen at this link http://apf-kenya.ning.com/forum/topics/how-can-icts-deliver-value-to-smallholder-farmers.
